Barrister Carolyn Goodwin QC of Trinity Chambers, and Alison Hall and Shirley Hall, solicitors and partners of Hay & Kilner and Eversheds Sutherland, each gave talks on their unique perspectives on the progression and changes for women in law.

We had a fabulous evening tasting gin cocktails hosted by Hepple Gin Distillery in Northumberland. Guests toured the juniper fields surrounding the distillery, learned about the distillation process and enjoyed a delicious meal. Our coach travel was kindly sponsored by Parklane Plowden Chambers.

Guests attended a presentation given by Emily Pearson from the Sally Allan Fund on wellbeing in the workplace, raising awareness of the importance of dealing with common mental health issues that arise in the workplace and tips on how to prevent mental health problems arising.

Our summer party took place at As You Like It in Jesmond, Newcastle where guests enjoyed Sangria, Paelle, Tapas and an interactive Flamenco dancing tutorial with Spanish Guitar. The meal was followed by a plenty of dancing with Spanish themed disco.

Guests joined us for a presentation entitled 'Building your research network' presented by Dr Nicola Wake, Associate Professor of Law at Northumbria University. WLD attendees gained an insight into the importance of building your network and shared tips for effective network building with each other.

We held our first Summer Party in June, a fantastic river cruise in beautiful Durham, where guests were treated to a welcome drink, BBQ, and DJ!

Forever Living Event at Crowne Plaza Hotel, 26 May 2016

We held the event at the Newcastle Crowne Plaza Hotel where attendees were treated to a selection of fantastic canapes, fizz on arrival and a presentation from Forever Living specialists with a chance for guests to try out the products themselves. Guests were also treated to a goodie bag containing Forever Living samples.

Comedy Evening at the Stand Comedy Club, Newcastle, 28 April 2016

We held a free event for guests to enjoy an evening of Comedy at Newcastle's the Stand Comedy Club. Guests mingled with drinks and stayed for a whole evening of great comedy at one of Newcastle's best venues.

Pizza Making class at Rossopomodoro Newcastle,  10 March 2016

Guests were welcomed with a glass of prosecco on arrival and a selection of freshly made italian canapes whilst they waited for their turn to create their own pizza. With the help of Rossopomodoro's head chef, guests could choose from a wide variety of great tasting ingredients, hand made their own pizzas before these were cooked in the restaurant's stone fired oven.

Our AGM was held at John Lewis where the committee for the coming year was welcomed by guests. The pamper evening was held in John Lewis' beauty retreat in the Clarins Spa. Guests enjoyed a goodie bag with samples and special offers, and enjoyed prosecco, canapes and demonstrations by experts from many of the store's exclusive beauty brands.

We held our wine tasting evening at Live Theatre on the Newcastle Quayside. Majestic wines supplied a wide range of wines which were tasted alongside cheese throughout the evening, with a quiz to test attendees' knowledge of the wines on offer for the evening.
